The University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus is home to 60 Greek organizations and 4 governing councils. Each council has a different structure, history, recruitment and intake process as well as various events hosted throughout the school year. Chapters range in size from 5 to 150+ members.  Many of members of the Greek community hold leadership positions across the university as well as within Greek life. Our students are successful academically, personally and professionally, and participate in volunteer and service activities on campus and in the Twin Cities area. Greek organizations seek to provide members with opportunities to lead, serve, build relationships and grow intellectually.

Each chapter has a different new member education process in order to help their members learn more about the history of their chapter, their organization, and the community.  Minimum expectations may include attendance at weekly meetings, service on a committee, study hours and participation in chapter and community events.

Parents and guardians have an essential role to play in their students fraternity and sorority experience.  To that end, if you have a concern or any question, please don’t hesitate to contact our office.

Additionally, the University of Minnesota has a number of different resources for parents and guardians; more information can be found on the Parent and Family Program page.
