There are several ways to join one of the 60 chapters in our community. Each chapter is governed by one of four student councils and each council’s intake or recruitment process is different..
The Interfraternity Council (IFC) facilitates both informal and formal recruitment processes and students are eligible to join one of 30 IFC fraternities at any time during the year. Formal recruitment typically begins the Sunday before Labor Day and continues throughout the first week of fall semester classes. In the spring, an informal recruitment fair is typically hosted in late January/early February. Additionally many IFC fraternities recruit over the summer.
The chapters within Multicultural Greek Council (MGC) each facilitate their own recruitment events throughout the year. The council hosts Multicultural Greek Council 101 each Fall and co-hosts a Cultural Greek Meet & Greet at the beginning of each Fall and Spring semester to introduce students to the council’s nine fraternities and sororities.
The chapters within National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) each facilite their own recruitment events throughout the year and hosts Black Greek 101 each Fall and co-hosts a Cultural Greek Meet & Greet in the Fall.
The Panhellenic Council (PHC) facilitates both informal and formal recruitment. Eleven of the council’s 14 sororities participate in formal recruitment, which starts the Sunday before Labor Day and is a four-day process concluding the following weekend. Some, but not all, sororities are eligible to participate in informal spring recruitment.
